A Great Conference!
IWWG Summer Conference .... July 22-28, 2022

The International Women's Writing Guild (IWWG) held its first summer conference since the start of the Pandemic, and it was a great reconnection with other writers and friends. An amazing slate of teachers and a community or supportive women writers gathered together in a setting of natural beauty on the Atlantic in Beverly, MA.
I'm here with friend and fellow writer, Lynne Barrett, sharing the conference vibes on the last night. Lynne offered an Intensive in fiction for those wanting to dive deep into craft, and I taught a five-part series on Story Structure.
For now, taking a break and planning workshops for the Fall.

Create Writing Magic – an 8-week online program to move you forward on your goals. Using the latest in brain science and tips for overcoming procrastination, this program keeps you moving forward. And don’t we all need that help from time to time?
Unleashing Creativity – an in-person full-day workshop in overcoming creative blocks and getting the creative juices flowing. Writing exercises, discussion and reading included.
The Power of a First Chapter in Fiction or Nonfiction – how you begin matters. From the very first words, you either hook your reader or not. In this program, writers get to rework their opening chapters (if they have a work in progress; if not they work on something new) for greatest impact. Chapter transitions that keep the reader engaged are also discussed. This program is offered as either a 1 day or 2-part (weekend) workshop.
Writing Characters Readers Will Love – This full-day workshop is focused on character development in fiction and includes how to use the physical description of your characters to inject and convey emotion, creating your character’s unique voice and how to effectively handle exposition and backstory elements.
Narrative Arc in Fiction and Nonfiction – a narrative arc is less like a sine curve and more like a roller coaster. In this half-day workshop learn the key elements of the narrative arc and how the arc pulls the reader along the story thread to maximum effect. This is offered either as a 90 minutes workshop or half-day. Writing, reading aloud and discussion is included.

Sharing My Interview from The Shine On Show with Kacey Morabito Grean – talking dreams!
As the writer of a book on dreams and how to interpret dreams, I often teach small group workshops on the subject and am interviewed on local programs. The interview below was done earlier this year and captures my approach to dream work. Please note that the video starts about 30 seconds in.
