Come learn from an impressive slate of teachers, experience a community of supportive women writers, all in a setting of natural beauty on the Atlantic in Beverly, MASS. I'll be teaching in the Writing as Business track how to set up and successfully launch your book and how to promote your book at a time when you can't travel for book-signings and the usual promotional events. https://iwwg.wildapricot.org/SP20

Create a Successful Book Launch--Steps Any Author Can Use
If even reading the words, Book Launch, fills you with trepidation, then this workshop can take the angst out of what might seem like an overwhelming task. Whether you have an online presence or not. Whether you’ve been traditionally published or not. A book launch needs to have YOU front and center in order to be a success. In this workshop, author and book designer Cathleen O’Connor shares what works and what doesn’t work and where to put your focus for the greatest benefit. Handouts included.

Create Writing Magic – an 8-week online program to move you forward on your goals. Using the latest in brain science and tips for overcoming procrastination, this program keeps you moving forward. And don’t we all need that help from time to time?

Unleashing Creativity – an in-person full-day workshop in overcoming creative blocks and getting the creative juices flowing. Writing exercises, discussion and reading included.

The Power of a First Chapter in Fiction or Nonfiction – how you begin matters. From the very first words, you either hook your reader or not. In this program, writers get to rework their opening chapters (if they have a work in progress; if not they work on something new) for greatest impact. Chapter transitions that keep the reader engaged are also discussed. This program is offered as either a 1 day or 2-part (weekend) workshop.

Writing Characters Readers Will Love – This full-day workshop is focused on character development in fiction and includes how to use the physical description of your characters to inject and convey emotion, creating your character’s unique voice and how to effectively handle exposition and backstory elements.

Narrative Arc in Fiction and Nonfiction – a narrative arc is less like a sine curve and more like a roller coaster. In this half-day workshop learn the key elements of the narrative arc and how the arc pulls the reader along the story thread to maximum effect. This is offered either as a 90 minutes workshop or half-day. Writing, reading aloud and discussion is included.

Sharing My Interview from The Shine On Show with Kacey Morabito Grean – talking dreams!

As the writer of a book on dreams and how to interpret dreams, I often teach small group workshops on the subject and am interviewed on local programs. The interview below was done earlier this year and captures my approach to dream work.  Please note that the video starts about 30 seconds in.
