PictureJane Kinney-Denning
Editor, Writer, Activist and NonProfit Leader
Jane is an acquisitions editor for Mango Publishers, an innovative independent book publisher that provides a voice for some of the freshest, most distinctive writers of our time. Previously she served as the executive director of internships and corporate outreach for the master’s in publishing program at Pace University where she taught a variety of courses on fundamental and critical issues in publishing. Prior to that, she worked as an acquiring editor at HarperCollins Publishers, Little Brown Publishers, Van Nostrand Reinhold, and CRC Press in the areas of English composition and the environmental sciences for the college, scientific and technical, and trade book markets.

For over a decade Jane has volunteered for the Women’s National Book Association (WNBA), a 102-year-old organization founded by women who were excluded from the all-male booksellers league. During her term as the national president, she oversaw the association’s centennial celebrations and the publication of Women in the Literary Landscape: A Centennial Publication of the Women’s National Book Association. She is on the executive board of the WNBA as the immediate past president and represents the WNBA to the United Nations Department of Global Communication — Civil Society Unit.

Her own published work includes interviews with high profile personalities such as Leonard Peltier and Bianca Jagger, and opinion pieces that have appeared in Publishers Weekly, Chronogram, VIDA and Plazm magazines.

Jane holds a Master of Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. A mother of three, she loves to spend time at her family’s lake house in the Adirondacks, kayaking, reading on the dock and going for long sunset boat rides.
